What Do You…

...remember about the hurricane?

...hope for the future?

...wish you had known before the storm?

...want other people to know?

Blackout Poetry

Step 1. Pick a page.

Step 2. Skim the text

Step 3: Circle the words that stand out to you

Step 4: Read through the words you circled. Add or cross out additional words to make your poem flow

Step 5: Blackout any words that aren’t circled

Step 6: Decorate your page

Zen-doodling

Step 1. Draw lines to divide the page into sections Step 2: Fill each section with a different repetitive pattern or design Step 3. You can find lots of inspiration for patterns and Zentangles or Zen-doodles online. Step 4: As you draw your patterns, pause to breathe. Go with the flow. There are no mistakes in Zen-doodling, only opportunities.

Step 3. Lay a sheet of paper on top of the object

Step 4. Hold the paper still with one hand so it doesn’t shift

Step 5. Take the paper wrapper off a crayon

Step 6. Using the side of the crayon (not the point), gently rub back and forth across the paper. Use moderate pressure
